Will Sam Waterson be back as Jack McCoy?

The original Law and order officially finished in 2010 after 20 years on the air. As one of the oldest NBC series, Dick Wolf’s production inspired multiple spinoffs, including Special Victim Support Unit (SVU), Criminal intent, True crime, THE, Jury trial, UK, Hate crimes, For Defense, and Organized crime.
The Emmy-winning series has another chance as NBC plans to revive the old show with writer and showrunner Rick Eid. The series almost broke Gun smokeIt’s record as longest-running prime-time drama, but it suddenly got the ax. However, SVU broke the record because it’s season 23.
“There are very few things in life that are literally dreams come true. It’s mine, ”Wolf said of the Season 21 order (via deadline).
With the cancellation of For Defense, NBC had a place to follow “Law and order Thursdays. Temporarily, The blacklist will fill the void. Yet when the risen one Law and order returns, Wolf will own Thursday nights – much like ABC’s Shonda Rhimes once did on Thursdays with Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to get away with a murder.
That said, will the original cast pick up on their L&O the roles?

As of yet, the official cover cast has not been released. However, Deadline also signaled that the original’s fan favorites are expected to return – at least one way or another. One of the top spots on the wishlist is Sam Waterson’s Jack McCoy. Universal Television and Wolf Entertainment added that they would also be reaching out to other former castmates.
Waterson is currently involved in the TV miniseries slated for 2022, The dropout, and he continues his role as Sol Bergstein on Grace and Frankie also in 2022.
What we know about the awakening so far

The revival will play on the same format as the original in which we look at “police investigating crime and district attorneys prosecuting offenders.” So far, there are no episodes count, character details, or a premiere date, but we’ll be keeping an eye on those details and update accordingly.
Likewise, some fans have already taken to social media to ask another “big” question: will frontman Chris Noth return? Currently, the star is filming the Sex and the city restart of the mini series, And just like that where he embodies the charismatic Mr. Big. His IMDb page also lists the preproduction for One day one day and All american brooklyn.
Noth played Detective Mike Logan in Law and order alongside Orbach between 1990-1995 before moving to Sex and the city (among other projects) and nearly 40 episodes of Law and order: criminal intent. It’s not yet clear if it will be part of the flagship reboot, but we’re excited to see what the revival looks like.
