The plus size contest winner hung out online and silently called hundreds of times a day for her looks
At one point, the online trolling encountered by national competition winner Megan Goldberger James got so bad that she didn’t want to leave her home.
“Someone got hold of my number and was pestering me, calling me hundreds of times a day without saying anything. I changed my number and they still have it. The police couldn’t do anything about it, ”Megan said.

Megan is the only plus-size contestant to attend Miss Pageant Girl UK in July.
Bridgend’s 23-year-old project assistant started competing in 2015 after meeting a beauty queen from Port-Talbot. She entered five contests, undeterred by being the ‘biggest girl’ and won her debut in 2017, where she was crowned Miss Divine UK. But she doesn’t just attend events for tall people, hence her entry into Miss Pageant Girl UK.
“I don’t just enter large competitions. I don’t want to be separated for my size, ”she added.
Megan is also a body empowerment coach who she says helps women love themselves and become the best version of themselves.
“I had very low self-esteem until I was 15. I was so unhappy with myself. Then I went to an academy where I met a beauty queen and thought I wanted to do what you do but I’m too fat. ”
She said the contests boosted her confidence and took her to other things. She is also a freelance model, appearing on reality TV, while also offering her empowerment classes.
Megan is a big advocate for body positivity and uploads bikini and lingerie photos to Instagram but has been the target of abuse online.

It was in August 2019, that the trolling became so bad that she was afraid to go out, and the worst abuse she suffered was that she believed it was someone she was. she knew.
There have also been Instagram accounts created about Megan with people leaving hateful comments on her photo.
Megan said, “People don’t believe you can be fat and happy. I am living proof that you can be. I am happy with who I am.
She said she believes everyone should be happy in the skin they are in and that she hopes to inspire other women – which is why she is attending Miss Pageant Girl UK which will take place in Warrington in July. .
“The competition has been postponed due to Covid but I am so excited to start the competition again. ”
Miss Pageant Girl UK is an all inclusive pageant held in Warrington featuring women of all ages, marital status and height.

During the competition, Megan raises funds for Psoriasis UK and the Mind charity. These are two charities that are close to his heart.
“I have had psoriasis for many years and it really affected my confidence. During high stress levels it shows up all over my body.
Megan didn’t let the trolls stop her aspirations and in the future, she hopes to enter more contests and inspire more women.
